Complete Project Management Mozambique 2019
The COMPLETE PROJECT MANAGEMENT course will provide a complete overview of Project Management, over 3 days of intensive training. Learners will be taught how to define the scope of a project and will be introduced to best practice principles and tools for organizations. After the 3 day course, learners will understand and know how to apply the project management framework according to the international standard PMBOK® Guide from the Project Management Institute (PMI) and will have mastered project management techniques in order to oversee a project from initiation and planning, right through to monitoring, controlling and evaluation. Our expert facilitator has extensive qualifications and experience in the field of project management on a global scale.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:
- To understand the concept of “a project”, knowing to identify and define the scope boundaries of a project in real life situations
- To understand the context of project management best practices and project management competency under an organizational perspective, knowing thereafter to adopt a “project oriented” way of working and of conduct business activities
- To understand and know how to apply the project management framework according to the international standard PMBOK® Guide from the Project Management Institute (PMI)
- To master the main project management techniques applied in the processes of initiation, planning, execution, monitoring and controlling, and closure of a project, including: project evaluation methods, scope statement (PBS), WBS, CPM, parametric estimating, Critical Path Analysis, Monte Carlo analysis, Earned Value Management (EVM), and lessons learned, among others.
AGENDA:
1. INTRODUCTION
- Brief History of Project Management
- The importance of Project Management and the business model of management by projects
- Standardization of Project Management: The Project Management Institute (PMI), Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK®) and the library of PMI
standards including OPM3® and PMCDF®
- Sources of information: professional organizations, literature and websites.
2. REVIEW OF THE PMBOK® Guide
- Definitions and foundational concepts: what is a project and project management?
project types and their classification, project objectives vs. project risks, the project stakeholders
- The context of Project Management: life cycles and organizational systems and influences
- The Process Groups (continuous activities): initiation, planning, execution, monitoring and controlling, closure
- The Knowledge Areas of Project Management: integration, scope, cost, time, quality, human resources, communication, risk, procurement, stakeholders.
3. IMPLEMENTATION OF THE LIFE CYCLE – PROCESSES AND TECHNIQUES
- Conception: top-down preliminary estimates and project evaluation
- Definition: detailed initial planning and the project baseline
- Implementation: product realization
- Operation: acceptance, benefits monitoring, initiation of new projects.
4. MAIN TECHNIQUES
- Project selection methods: scoring models and economic models;
- Estimating parametric models: the production of reliable estimates at the beginning of the project life cycle, before detailed planning
- Scope Statement (PBS), WBS, PDM, CPM, Resource Loading / Levelling / Over-allocation: development and optimization of the detailed execution plan
- Risk Analysis: The Risk Register, PERT and Monte Carlo Simulation
- Project Control: The Earned Value Management (EVM) method, use of SPI, CPI, and other performance indexes
- Group exercises: (1) building evaluation and estimation models in MS Excel, (2) development of a detailed execution plan in MS Excel and MS Project, (3) implementation of an EVM control model in MS Project.
5. CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTORS
6. PRACTICAL EXERCISES
Throughout this training course several exercises will be conducted through the development of the following models:
- MS Excel: models for evaluating the project; parametric models of preliminary estimation; models for planning the scope of the project
- MS Project: detailed execution plan of a project - model for defining the scope (WBS), project network diagram (PDM); project schedule (CPM), and resource histograms.
