Peninah is a highly skilled assurance, governance, risk and compliance professional with more than 12 years of experience in compliance audits, risk management, internal and external audit, fraud risk management, capacity building and training, and financial reporting. She has advised clients in mining, oil and gas, financial services, manufacturing, international development and humanitarian sectors in Tanzania, Kenya, South Sudan, Ethiopia and Sudan on the aforementioned areas. Further, she was part of a team that developed the National Economic Empowerment Council’s local content implementation strategy for the period 2021 to 2031. She is a published author in local dailies and speaker at national forums on a diverse range of topics including governance, financial management and ESG.
Happiness is a Manager in the Tax Service Line at EY Tanzania, bringing over eight years of expertise in international tax and transaction services, with a keen specialization in transfer pricing. Her proficiency encompasses the formulation of comprehensive transfer pricing documentation, providing strategic advice on restructuring issues and offering robust support during transfer pricing audits. From August 2022 to September 2023, Happiness expanded her horizons by working with EY’s office in Johannesburg, South Africa. During this tenure, she amassed extensive experience in servicing clients across Africa, focusing on transfer pricing operating model effectiveness, tax controversy, exchange controls, Country-by-Country (CbCr) reporting and transfer pricing advisory.
Happiness has been instrumental in drafting and presenting tax reform proposals to the Task Force in Tax Reforms and the Parliamentary Budget Committee. Her exceptional contributions to the field have earned her global recognition, being honored as a Notable Practitioner in the ITR World Rankings for 2024/25. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Customs and Tax Management from the Institute of Tax Administration and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), proudly affiliated with the National Board of Accountants and Auditors (NBAA)
Fredy is a Senior Manager in the Tax Service line at EY Tanzania with over eight years of tax and legal experience. He has advised local and multinational enterprises on a range of tax and legal issues, including business registration, compliance, opportunities and incentives, controversies and business closures. Fredy is a distinguished legal and tax expert with a Master of Laws in Taxation and a Bachelor of Laws with Honours from the University of Dar es Salaam, along with a Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law School of Tanzania. He is an Advocate of the High Court of Tanzania and a member of both the Tanganyika Law Society and the East Africa Law Society. Additionally, he is a member of the East Africa Law Society Tax Law Committee, contributing to the development of tax jurisprudence across the East African region.
Fredy has been pivotal in lobbying for tax reforms for major entities in Tanzania and has played a crucial role in tax policy reforms through his involvement with the Task Force in Tax Reforms, the Presidential Commission on Tax Reforms, the Parliamentary Budget Committee, the European Business Group and the South African Business Forum. His continued efforts to eliminate challenges in tax policies and legislations underscore his commitment to enhancing Tanzania's tax landscape.
